42-year-old arrested one-day after breaching conditions faces new charges

Sarnia Police say they arrested a 42-year-old city man one day after he is alleged to have violated a condition of his release on earlier charges.

In the latest run-in with the law, the man is accused of stolen several cans of beer from the Beer Store on Maxwell Street. When told by an employee that he needed to pay for the beer, which was said to be inside his coat jacket, Sarnia Police said his response was that he was underaged.

Sarnia Police say they located the man a short time later in the area of Centennial Park. He was still wearing the same jacket as described by the Beer Store employee and drinking a beer. He had five more cans of beer in his coat.

The man now faces new charges of theft under $5,000 and breach of recognizance.
