A conversation with an old friend

Marie Marcy-Smids and I first met when we were both at Dow Chemical. Catching up was a lot of fun

it’s not often that I get to catch up with someone who still calls me “David”—the name I grew up with family and throughout the first several years of my career as a writer/journalist.

Marie Marcy-Smids is one of those dear souls.

We both worked at the same place when my young family came to Sarnia in 1985 and we’ve known each other—on and off—since then.

But there was a significant gap when Marie (I’ll use her first name here) joined her husband in living in Jamaica, which is part of her story we explored just a little bit in this conversation.

We’ll discover together how Marie became something of an expert where it comes to fund development with a number of organizations and how she is now involved, through the local office of the Alzheimer’s Society of Sarnia Lambton and especially as her work with the upcoming (May 26) Alzheimer’s Walk comes together.

If you haven’t yet taken the opportunity of getting involved in the Walk, may I encourage you to sign up as a sponsor or create your own team to raise money for this worthwhile cause.

As if that weren’t reason enough, the Rotary Club of Sarnia is lending a hand to offer a pancake breakfast after the walk.

You can find all the details on the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s RIGHT HERE.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy our catch up conversation with Marie Marcy-Smids and share with your network!
