Bluewater Health has ended visitor restrictions at its hospitals in Sarnia and Petrolia effective immediately.

The hospital asks that family and friends refrain from visiting patients if they are feeling unwell or had nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or respiratory symptoms within two days before their visit.

Two weeks ago, Bluewater Health placed restrictions on visiting hours citing an increase in seasonal illness and the need to decrease the chances of others becoming ill.

“We would like to thank the healthcare team involved in managing care during the visitor restrictions,” said Laurie Zimmer, Bluewater Health’s vice president of operations. “We are also grateful for the community’s patience and support in helping to keep our patients safe from seasonal illness.”

The hospital reminds all visitors that using hand sanitizer when entering and leaving the hospital reinforces efforts to prevent the spread of infection.
