Bluewater Health welcomes new medical oncologist to team

Bluewater Health is welcoming a new medical oncologist to its professional medical staff.

Arriving in Sarnia is something of a homecoming for Dr. Jule Lebert, who grew up in Wyoming, Ontario.  She completed her medical degree at the Schulich School of Medicine at Western University, where she graduated at the top of her class and was awarded the Alumni Gold Medal in recognition of her academic achievements.

After completing her training in Internal Medicine at Western, she specialized in medical oncology, studying at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She also earned a Master’s degree in Chemical Biology.

“Oncology and the care of cancer patients is my passion,” said Dr. Lebert. “I am excited to be able to return to Sarnia-Lambton as part of Bluewater Health’s cancer care team and to provide local access to the best and most current cancer treatments. Cancer care is rapidly evolving and, now more than ever, developing a relationship with patients is important in order to establish the best treatment plan for each individual.”

Perhaps as happy as Dr. Lebert is Dr. Mike Haddad, chief of staff at Bluewater Health.

“I am delighted that Dr. Lebert has decided to join our cancer program in Sarnia,” said Dr. Haddad. “Providing high-quality cancer care closer to home is critical for our patients and is also part of our efforts to alleviate some of the stresses that patients are dealing with by being treated closer to family. We continue to make investments in cancer care, both diagnostics and treatments, and wish to continue to expand the range of local cancer services provided to our population in Sarnia-Lambton in collaboration with Cancer Care Ontario and other cancer agencies in the province.”
