SPOTLIGHT, WITH J.D. BOOTH

Bringing art to the community is just part of his story

Mark McLean spent a career in Chemical Valley before a visit to Florida morphed into a love of watercolour painting

Today, Mark McLean has discovered a new career, having retired from Imperial Oil after many years.

As we discovered in a somewhat impromptu discussion—after McLean reached out after reading a post by Lambton Shield editor J.D. Booth—it was a visit to Florida on the invitation of friends that began his own journey into painting, specifically with watercolours.

Today, McLean shares a gallery in Grand Bend with fellow artist Victor Alderson. There is a Facebook page for the gallery and website links for both McLean and Alderson.

It was a fascinating discussion which we’re sure you’ll enjoy—especially if you haven’t given the hobby/passion of art any prior thought.
