Captain Kidd Days back for its 32nd year

Be prepared for a weekend of sports, music, and fun

For the 32nd year in a row, Captain Kidd Days has a weekend full of fun planned at Corunna’s Athletic Park.

“It’s a fun community event and there’s something for everyone, kids and adults alike,” said Geoff Dale, co-chair of Captain Kidd Days.

Sports and Events

The party starts Thursday night with an outdoor screening of the Disney film Moana beginning at 7:30 p.m.

All weekend, Captain Kidd Days is hosting a volleyball tournament supporting Noelle’s Gift and a three-on-three hockey tournament supporting community mental health initiatives.

On Friday, the annual two-pitch tournament starts at 6 p.m.– the same time the beer tent opens. The Little Miss and Miss Corunna pageant starts at 6:30 p.m. and at 8:30 p.m., Evolution Hair Studio will show off its skills.

The two-pitch tournament continues at 9 a.m. on Saturday and the parade begins at 11 a.m. The Kids-Zone will be opened from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. featuring inflatables, a rock-climbing wall, paddle-boats, and the YMCA toddler zone. Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo is giving demonstrations starting at 1 p.m. and free pony rides start at 2 p.m. Admission is $4 per child, or $10 for a family with three or more children and supports local sports teams.

The Kids-Zone reopens at 12 p.m. on Sunday with all the same inflatables and admission will be a donation to the food bank. Open mic starts at 3 p.m. and a talent show begins at 3:30 p.m. Fireworks finish off the weekend at dusk.

Captain Kidd Days has plenty of music planned to keep everyone entertained all weekend long. On Friday, The Room opens the night at 9 p.m. followed by Shawn Brady and the Northern Sons at 10:20 p.m. and See Spot Run hits the stage at midnight.

On Saturday, Life Signs provides the afternoon entertainment and when the sun is setting Miss Atomic Bomb will hit the stage at 8:45 p.m. The Rapids take over at 10:30 p.m. and the Orangemen will play from 11:50 p.m. until closing.

Sunday night keeps the party going with Kira Jade performing at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday’s Engine starts playing at 10:30 p.m. and Scott Manery and the Barnburners are playing from 11:30 p.m. until closing.
