SPOTLIGHT, WITH J.D. BOOTH

Chief Joanne Rogers of Aamjiwnaang First Nation talks about the past as well as her hopes for the future

A conversation with lifelong member may be start of something much bigger as conversations continue

When Lambton Shield editor J.D. Booth first met Chief Joanne Rogers of the Aamjiwnaang First Nation, it was at a Chamber of Commerce event—specifically the Annual General Meeting in February 2017 where the Chief had been asked to speak.

Booth had just started Spotlight and was reaching out with the thought that he would invite the Chief to participate.

It took over a year for the follow up to occur (no fault of the Chief) but it was worth the wait.

In a conversation that took place in Council chambers, we spoke with Chief Rogers, about her background, her motivation for becoming the first female Chief, and some of her hopes for the people she serves.

We hope you enjoy this episode of Spotlight and share it with your friends, colleagues and family.
