Community church heralds fall season this Saturday

Lighthouse offering free 'carnival' and smokefest from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Lighthouse Community Church, located at the corner of Parker St. and Nelson (one block south of Exmouth), is celebrating its return to both Saturday and Sunday services in style this Saturday (Sept. 9) with a free “fun food” event that starts at 4:30 pm.

Dubbed “Carnival and Smokefest,” the community event will feature a dunk tank, hot dogs, games, prizes, smoked pork, roasted corn, baked beans and salads.

“Twisted Chris,” a balloon artist, has also been booked for the family friendly event.

Church organizers say the traditional “back to fall” event marks a return to both a Saturday service at 6:30 p.m. Typically during the summer months, the church meets only on Sundays at 10 a.m. The Saturday tradition has its roots in the church having to rent from other facilities until it purchased the former Parker Street United Church in 2009.

Beginning this weekend, both services are back in full swing.

All are welcome. The church can be found online at www.sarnialighthouse.com
