Cop for Cans event brings in record amount of food for Inn of the Good Shepherd

Weekend event raised 11,879 pounds at Wal-Mart and Great Canadian Superstore parking lots

Over the weekend, members of the Sarnia Police Service took part in the seventh Annual Cop for Cans event which involves collecting donated canned food goods for people in need at Christmas time.  The food is donated to the Inn of the Good Shepherd who in turn ensures that those most in need receive the donations.

This year the Cop for Cans Event collected 11,879 pounds of food goods which is a record-breaking year.

“Thank you to all the volunteers who gave up their day off to come out and help with this event,” said Const. Giovanni Sottosanti. “And thanks to local the Great Canadian Superstore and Wal Mart for allowing this event to take place at their locations. Another thank you to the Sarnia Police Association for their monetary donation towards the can food drive.”

Finally, a huge thank you to the people of Sarnia who have donated over 50,000 pounds of food over the last seven years to the Cop for Cans event.
