Peacefully, surrounded by his entire family, at Bluewater Health on Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Robert John Dell passed away at the age of 82. He is survived by his loving wife Nadyne; sons Kevin (Jill) and Rob (Tara); sisters Judy (late Jim) and Lesley (Bob). Predeceased by his beloved daughter Allison. Bob took great pleasure in his five grandsons and great-grandson: Ashton, Keyvin, Coleson, Brendan, Connor and Amadeus.
Though a graduate chemical engineer from Queen’s University, Bob found his true passion in teaching, spending over 30 years as an educator and administrator with the Lambton County Board of Education. In 1977, he received the Queen’s 25thAnniversary Medal in recognition of his contribution to community and education. Bob had many loves including music, film, theatre, travel, coaching cross-country and annual attendance at the Toronto International Film Festival. At the time of his passing, he was President of the Board of the International Symphony Orchestra and President of cinéSARNIA. In previous years, he was actively involved with the United Way, YMCA Celebration of Youth and Huron House Boys Run.
The family is greatly appreciative of the concern and caring offered by the staff of Bluewater Health.
The speed of Bob’s passing leaves us stunned but we find comfort in reflecting on a life so well lived. Bob was a gentle soul whose caring touched many lives.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 12:00 p.m., with family and friends being received from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
