Donations being sought for local Santa parade

Kinsmen Club puts out the call for help with cost of popular event

The Kinsmen Club of Sarnia is hoping members of the community will help out in defraying the costs of its annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights.

This year’s event, scheduled for December 3, marks the 36th year the cub has been involved. This year’s event will begin at 6 p.m. and run from Exmouth Street at Christina Street, travelling south through the downtown.

Organizers are hoping to raise a good part of the $15,000 it takes to hold the parade, including the cost of bringing several U.S. school marching bands, which is covered by the club.

The currency conversion rate has impacted the club in recent years, according to Bob Marks, who chairs the event.

Donations can be mailed to the Kinsmen Club of Sarnia, P.O. Box 861, Sarnia, ON N7T 7J9.
