Sadly on Sunday, February 11, 2018, our Mom (Gramma, Bingo, Funky Gramma) passed at home, surrounded by her family. “I’ve had a great life except for the loss of your Dad,” Thomas Ronald Duncan (1964).
Widowed young, she worked and raised her four children on her own; retiring as a Switchboard Operator at SGH. Her interests were many and constantly changing! Lifelong bowler, gardener and Blue Jays fan. Quilting, golf, garage sales, crafts, there was always another project. She never could stay still. She “lived for her family,” which was her absolute love and she was our one and only, forever and always!
Survived by her son Tommy (Lori) Duncan, children Amanda (Todd) Pepper (Brady, Riley, Haley) and Adam (Jillian) Duncan (Abigail, Owen). Daughters: Christine Duncan Skinner, children Kyle (Brooke) Skinner (Paige, Kensi) and Ryan (Jess) Skinner (Jaxen, Masen); and Nancy (Tim) Lyon, children Keith (Kristy) Lyon (Desmond, Oscar, Madelyn) & Megan (Mat) Bremnar (twins Henry & James) and Susan (Mike) McGrath, children Davis, Rachel (Quincy).
Will be missed by her Uncle Ken Brown and sisters Ina Harris, Judie Bloomfield & Ellen (Moe) Brown and several nieces & nephews.
There will be no visitation or service. Cremation has taken place. Fittingly, as per her wishes, some of her ashes are going in her bowling ball to be buried with her husband at Lakeview Cemetery at a private family spring interment.
Thank you to CCAC, VON, Dr. Yoshida & Oncology Dept., Dr. Maddison and Dr. Kim. Special thanks to her RN Granddaughters Amanda & Megan who helped ease her through to her end. She would have been especially proud and the family thanks you both.
Mom was a proud, incredibly stubborn, symbol of strength and dignity right up to the end.
