Early morning call by Sarnia Police results in extensive damage to cruiser

A Sarnia Police officer responding to a call in the east part of the city fell prey to slush and icy conditions early this morning, crashing the vehicle and coming to rest along the south wall of Highway 402 between the guard rail and sound barrier wall.

The officer was taken to hospital but released with no injuries, A passing motorist had stopped to assist the officer.

Police say the officer had activated his roof lights while en route to the call.

Damage to the vehicle is described as "extensive" to the front and rear driver's side, deploying the vehicle's air bag.

Lambton OPP conducted the investigation of the incident.
