Finishing well, prostate cancer patient raises $5k for research

dons journey of hopeWhen Don Wells arrived on his e-bike at the Sarnia Walmart parking lot on Saturday, he was almost home having nearly finished his “Journey of Hope” that began June 28 in his hometown of Wallaceburg. He now lives in Port Lambton.

Later that day, Wells, who is journeying through prostate cancer (he is stage 4), made stops in Corunna, Port Lambton and Walpole Island before finishing up in Wallaceburg.

His journey was in support of the Canadian Cancer Society, with all proceeds designated to support research on breast cancer and prostate cancer.

“I know as I approach my final destination in life, and all the good people that were there to straighten me out, I need to put back into life that which was given to me, without anyone expecting anything in return,” said Wells.

Having reached 65 years of age in June, Wells says he has a new perspective on life.

“A work of life was taught to me which is JOY—which means Jesus first, others second and yourself last. That is how I try to walk in my life.”
