Five things to do this weekend

The weather has taken a cool turn and the leaves are changing to their brilliant colours. Pumpkin patches are overflowing and cider is starting to run. The Weather Network is calling for cool temperatures which whisper “sweater weather” in the wind. There’s a lot to do in Sarnia Lambton this weekend.

Live Music Cafe

This Friday at Foursquare Church the Sisters of Soul host a live music cafe with special guests Canadian Indie-Folk duo Evan and John. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. at 207 Talfourd Street. Benefit Concert at Station Music Hall for Harry Olsen

This Sunday from 1-7 p.m. at Station Music Hall is a benefit longtime musician Harry Olsen. Olsen has been playing bass with Rick Steeves for years and used to be in the local band “The Volcanoes.” Olsen was in a motorcycle accident recently that broke both of his arms and pelvis. The benefit will help Olsen and family. Local bands The Barnburners, Brad and Brenda, Good Question Jaborito and Rockridje will be playing some great music. Tickets are $10.00 and available at Picker’s Alley, Cheeky Monkey and The Door.

Spend a day celebrating Fall at Korny Korners

Head out to Korny Korners at 6193 Backwell Sd. Rd. this weekend and enjoy a fun-filled family day.  Korny Korners offers Mini Putt, Hayrides to the pumpkin patch where kids can choose their own pumpkin, John Deere Pedal Go Karts, Whimsical Woodlands Cedar Maze, farm animals and play areas. World Hunger Talk

Helen Keenliside, a volunteer with Canadian Foodgrains, will be sharing her experiences in Nicaragua as a part of a food security learning tour. She will speak about the work the Canadian Foodgrains does to decrease hunger worldwide. The talk will be held at Central United Church at 220 George Street at 10:30 am. All are welcome. Fall Fairs

Fall fairs are in full swing this weekend. Head out to Bluewater Country’s annual Bazaar at 5700 Blackwell Side Road from9 am to 12 pm. The event l includes bake tables, raffles, and prizes. Over at Grace United Church at 990 Cathcart Blvd from 9 am to 1 pm is another fair that includes a Silent Auction, BBQ, tea room, Girl Guide cookies, wagon rides, books and frozen chilis’ and soup.
