The Hellenic community of Sarnia Lambton is in the final planning stages of Sarnia Greekfest 2012 to be held Saturday, September 8th from Noon to 11 p.m. and Sunday, September 9 from noon to 7 p.m.
The festival will take place on the grounds at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1299 Murphy Road, Sarnia.
NEW this year Greekfest will hold a KID-LYMPICS for children's entertainment. Also, information on a Kids Fun Run/Walk to be held the first weekend in September at Terry's Loop in Canatara Park is now available with registration form on the organization's website.
There will be even more fun for the kids with Memorable Moments on hand with face painting. Greekfest also promises a live Greek band, Greek dance shows, vendors, a church tour with Greek artifacts and a history presentation. Be sure to join us Saturday evening for a couple more event highlights!
Chair Bill Athanasopoulos says the organizers are thrilled to be able to run the event.

Sunday, September 9th Dominique Pegg, Canadian Gymnast, 2012 Canadian Olympic Team makes a special guest appearance at 3 p.m..
In keeping with authentic Greek tradition, don’t forget to check out the Greekfest Kafenio (café);Taverna (bar); and the Kouzina (kitchen). This is an opportunity to explore Hellenic culture while enjoying traditional foods such as souvlaki and gyros, as well as Greek delicacies such as spinach and cheese pies, baklava and many more famous Greek desserts.
