Habitat for Humanity has a new development manager

Angela Kirkland was most recently with the Canadian Mental Health Association

Angela Kirkland has just arrived at Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton as the organization’s new Fund Development Manager. Angela was most recently the Fund & Communications Development Coordinator for the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent Branch for the last six years. Prior to that, she was with Community Living as a Community Involvement Coordinator for eight years.

Kirkland has expertise in strategic planning and execution, non-profit fundraising through special events, corporate relationships and community partnerships, along with her abilities to build relationships through public relations, marketing and being genuinely interested in the well being of the community.

She has also been an associate professor in the Academic Upgrading Program at Lambton College, a very enriching experience that allowed her the opportunity to help those that were looking for a more rewarding life.

Kirkland says she is most proud of her time as the Coordinator of the Ride Don’t Hide CMHA National Event that raises funds and awareness for mental health initiatives in the Sarnia/Lambton area. Breaking down stigmas and barriers for others is of particular interest to her as she is compassionate about this local area she has lived in all her life.

Kirkland enjoys being outdoors and landscaping in her garden. She volunteers her time with the Point Edward Skating Club – being on the board of directors for five years. Married with four children, teenagers 16-20 years of age, she enjoys a vibrant and busy family life.

Passionate to be involved helping in all areas of the community, starting conversations around mental health, well being and awareness, Kirkland is on a mission to continue the excellent work that has been done to assist deserving families secure decent, safe and affordable housing. “I am so happy to be here and experience the joy that Habitat for Humanity Sarnia/Lambton brings to the forefront with an all-inclusive mindset, advocating for those that need a hand up the most”.
