It is with great sadness that the family of Carolyn L. Harris announce her sudden, yet peaceful, passing on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Bluewater Health at the age of 75. Predeceased by her husband Peter J. Harris (2004). Survived by her children John W. Harris of Mississauga, and Jason M. Harris (Kirby Groves) of Sarnia, grandchildren Grant M. Harris, Paige J. Harris and Aiden A. Groves, and special friend Stan Robinson. Also survived by her nephew Andrew (Joanna) Baker and his children Anderson and Lauren, her aunt Margaret (the late Willis) Cairns (nee Farris) and her family, and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Predeceased by her parents H. Grant MacKinlay and Eileen Cairns-MacKinlay; her sister Linda Baker; her husband’s siblings Audrey (James F.), Frank, Betty, Joan and Ruth. Carolyn was a registered nurse who began her career at Sarnia General in Pediatrics, and ended her career at Residence on the St. Clair in Geriatrics. Over the years, she was an active community volunteer, and sat on many boards, committees and service organizations. Carolyn had a passion for art and antiques, and was active with Sarnia Artists Workshop and Gallery in the Grove. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Smith Funeral Home.
