Highlights of Lambton County Council meeting

 At its regular meeting on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 1:15 p.m., Lambton County Council:

 —Recognized students attending County of Lambton facilities for Take Your Kids to Work Day.

—Presented a plaque of recognition to the North Lambton Lodge Auxiliary for its donation towards the building of a Gazebo and its continued support of residents and staff at the Long-Term Care home.

—Thanked those who donated $5,000 or more to the capital campaign for the Judith & Norman ALIX Art Gallery.

—Heard a presentation from the Heart and Stroke Foundation about how to make the County of Lambton more cardiac safe.

—Heard a progress update presentation from Tourism Sarnia-Lambton, which summarized the alignment of the organization's Core Services Activities with its Strategic Goals.

—Participated in the Annual General Meeting of The County of Lambton Community Development Corporation.  Acting Research Park Manager Paul Paolatto provided an update to council.

—Directed staff to prepare a report on the requested debt restructuring and additional financing of The County of Lambton Development Corporation and report back to council at its next meeting.

—Received an attrition management report from staff outlining the elimination of four positions and the downsizing of one.

—Approved amendments to a roads maintenance agreement with the City of Sarnia.  The City will assume winter control maintenance responsibility for Lakeshore Road (from Modeland Road to Mandaumin Road) and Modeland Road (from Lakeshore Road to south of Berger Road).  The City will also be responsible for the year-round maintenance of LaSalle Line.

—Directed staff to proceed with discussions regarding the conveyance of the County-owned former rail Right-of-Way east of Mandaumin Road to the local municipality or a community group for constructing an extension to the Howard Watson Trail.

—Directed staff to transfer $25,000 from the Art Acquisition Reserve to complete the purchase of "The Diversions" by Adad Hannah, currently on exhibit at the Judith & Norman ALIX Art Gallery.

—Noted its next meeting will be held Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 1:15 p.m.
