It is with saddened hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Yuriy Kordonskyy at Bluewater Health-Sarnia, on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, surrounded by friends and family after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 2 days shy of his sixty-ninth birthday. Yuri is survived by his loving wife Svitlana, daughters Nataliya and Mariya, son-in-law Johnny and grandson Jacob as well as his sister Natasha and her family. Yuri was born on March 31, 1947, in a remote area of Russia, but family soon relocated to Kiev, Ukraine. In 1968, Yuri married his best friend and the love of his life Svitlana. Together they built a happy home full of love, laughter, and adventure. His career as an oil and gas engineer took him internationally and in December 2001 the family immigrated to Canada. Yuri fell in love with this beautiful and generous country and truly considered Canada his home and native land. Yuri’s unparalleled work ethics and genuine passion for his job marked his 14 year’s career in Colt Engineering (Worley Parsons) where he successfully implemented many complex projects, until it was interrupted by a disease. Yuri will be deeply missed by his beloved family and friends, and his sense of humour will allow us to cherish many happy and fun memories with him. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to CEEH foundation of Bluewater Health (cheques only at the funeral home please).
