Lambton College and University of Windsor continue collaboration on degree program for teachers

Lambton College and the University of Windsor are pleased to offer the fourth cohort of spaces into the province’s first and only Bachelor of Education degree and Early Childhood Education diploma joint partnership offered solely in Sarnia, Ontario.

The province’s full-day early learning initiative for four and five-year-olds will continue the phase-in this fall, with a plan to equip all elementary schools for the program by the 2015-2016 school year. This new partnership program meets the increased need for qualified primary teachers and early childhood educators in the province.

Program instructors from Lambton College and the University of Windsor collaborate to create an integrated approach to early learning philosophy, curriculum development and teaching approaches on-site at Lambton College.

The College’s Early Childhood Education program offers students the opportunity to gain practical experience working with children at the on-site Ontario Early Years Centre and the Early Childhood Education Centre. Faculty from The University of Windsor’s Faculty of Education will prepare teacher candidates with a solid theoretical foundation in teaching methodology, combined with teaching practice in the classroom, alongside a qualified teaching professional.

Students in the two-year joint program will receive both a Bachelor of Education (Primary-Junior) degree and an Early Childhood Education Diploma. Candidates for the program must have previously completed a three year (minimum) Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
