Lambton College giving chance to experience campus life first hand

digital photographyIt’s one thing to read about a college program online, and completely another to experience student life first-hand. Lambton College invites all interested guests to an exclusive VIP Event on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, where attendees can have the chance to live a day in the life of a Lambton College student.

Lambton College programs within the School of Creative Design and one program within the School of Business & Information Technology are participating in the event, with all sessions beginning at the Lambton INN.

The event will run from 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and after a common welcome to all guests, programs will branch off into separate activities.

Each session has fun program-specific activities planned to give all guests a personal experience of what they can expect from their program of choice at Lambton College. All sessions include tours of the college and facilities, and a lunch provided by Lambton College.

The programs participating in the event include:

Fashion Business and Fashion Sales & Merchandising

Fashion Business is much more than working in a clothing shop. Join this session for a full day experience that can lead to a fast-paced and fulfilling career in the management side of the fashion industry.

What to expect?

  • Spend part of the day in the program’s “Style Lab”, the on-campus high fashion store run entirely by program students
  • Style models for a fashion photo shoot
  • Get the chance to interact with current students and faculty
  • Have an opportunity to win exciting fashion prizes and swag bags

Digital Photography

The Digital Photography program is designed to lead students into an exciting career as a professional photographer.

What to expect?

  • A visit to Lambton’s state-of-the-art photo studio
  • Two photo shoots, where visitors will be able to photograph professional models, either with their own camera, or one from the equipment library. One shoot will feature a fashion model; the other will be a body-painting model.

Hairstyling and Esthetics

These two related programs are combining their efforts to give students a chance to see the benefits of pursuing a career in both areas.

What to expect?

  • Spend the day with instructors and current students
  • A visit to the new hairstyling salon/lab as well as “The Spa at Lambton” Esthetics lab
  • Options to receive spa and salon services
  • Observe exciting makeup applications for a photography fashion shoot
  • Culinary Management 

Prepare for an exciting and interactive day that provides the learner with two important elements of the program.

What to expect?

  • A tour of kitchen facilities
  • Participate in classroom activities developing leadership skills
  • Transfer leadership skills into the kitchen to produce baked breads and simple yet decadent desserts.
  • The opportunity to discuss program highlights with current students, and establish pathways and best practices with faculty
