Lambton College to host last Return to Learn information session of the summer next week

Event on Wednesday, Sept. 5 is 'drop-in' style running from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

There’s still time to apply to Lambton College for the coming semester – but time is running out quickly!

On Wednesday, September 5, Lambton College will be hosting a final Return to Learn session featuring services and information tailored toward learners who are still interested in enrolling for the fall semester. The drop-in style event will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the C1 Student Lounge (formerly G Hall Lounge) and guests who are still considering a full-time program for this year will have the opportunity to chat with representatives from a variety of services and consult with Enrolment Advisors about programs that have remaining seats available.

Some highlights of the event that might be of interest to incoming students include:

• Apply to Lambton College on-the-spot and find out instantly if you’ve been accepted. With the first day of classes approaching fast, the College is now able to provide OCAS registration to applicants directly through the Office of the Registrar. Applicants still need to provide academic transcripts and will be required to pay their first-semester tuition in full at the time of registration or pay a $300 deposit if they have submitted a completed OSAP application. As an added incentive, Lambton College will pay the $95 application fee for any students who apply during the event.

• Learn more about changes to the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and find out if you qualify for free tuition. The program was updated last year to ensure that non-repayable grant funding exceeds tuition fees and also allows adult learners to qualify for more grants so they can go back to school to upgrade their skills.

• Representatives from Lambton College’s Academic Upgrading department will be available to assist students who might be missing college prerequisites. Academic Upgrading is a free service that allows students to upgrade their academic skills in order to meet college program admission requirements.

• Learn more about preparatory programs such as Pre-Health Sciences, Pre-Community Services and Pre-Trades & Technology. These eight-month programs are designed to help adult learners gain the skills and pre-requisites required to succeed in a full-time diploma program.

Can’t attend a Return to Learn information session? The Enrolment Team is also accepting drop-in program advising sessions from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the next week. Interested applicants can simply check-in at the Lambton College reception desk and let them know that they are inquiring about program information. For those who are unable to attend an appointment on campus, the Enrolment Team is also able to accommodate off-campus appointments, such as local coffee shops, or accept over-the-phone advising sessions.
