A mountain of shoes may look odd to most, but Lambton College students know that these shoes mean much more. Students from Lambton College’s Fire and Public Safety Centre of Excellence collected and donated shoes to help individuals without a pair of shoes to call their own.
The students collected and donated shoes during the "Shoes for El Salvador" campaign. These shoes will be sent to Central America by Support of Lambton for Latin America, an organization led by Dolores Quintanilla, a Lambton faculty member, and Mario Quintanilla, from Lambton Elderly Outreach (LEO).
They will be delivering these to El Salvador as well as some much needed used fire equipment from Lambton’s Fire & Public Safety Centre of Excellence. The students far exceeded their goal for the shoe drive, as hundreds of shoes were collected throughout the campaign.
Students from the Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program at Lambton also collected bags of clothing and shoes for the campaign. The students worked hard and dedicated their time to help the amazing cause.
The clothing and shoes were picked up on Sunday, March 17 and shipped to El Salvador.
