celebrating a year of bringing you more local news!

By J.D. Booth

A year is it? Seems like yesterday.

Well, not quite. The reality is, seeing the birth (or re-birth if you think about the 1852-1854 version of the Lambton Shield newspaper) of a community media outlet with a decidedly local emphasis) is something that took an enormous amount of work.

I'm personally thankful to Barry Wright, who has been part of the team from the beginning. And Nathan Colquhoun and his team at, who were a source of encouragement as we celebrated a growing number of visitors.

Many others, including Bob McCarthy, Dave Borody and Dan McCaffery continue to share their insights. Thank you to all.

But birthdays are both a time to look back and look ahead.

And we're definitely looking ahead at

Building relationships with Sarnia-Lambton's many organizations that need and deserve to tell their stories is part of that, certainly.

So is spreading the word that we're here and a web-based place worth checking out on a regular basis.

We certainly see the opportunities continuing to grow and we hope you'll be a part of our journey and mission to bring back a level of local news to the area.

Thanks for a great year. We're looking forward to even more to report in the weeks and months to come.

I have been a reader of the Lambton Shield for a couple of weeks now and I really enjoy the publication. The articles are timely and interesting. Keep up the good work, and be sure to keep it focussed on local issues and topics.
