Let’s make this season a safe one, starting by reading this

I know, it's still a bit early to dig out the Christmas lights and holly.

But I don't think it's ever too early to start thinking.

In this case, about drinking and driving. I have a theory, though. And it's this: the people who are going to be stupid (or more to the point drunk) enough to get behind the wheel of a lmotor vehicle, say "I'm fine" (and they're not), then valiantly (not) try to remember where they live or worse, drive home a bunch of their friends or relatives home as well, those people aren't going to read this. And if they do, they'll nod and agree and say they'd never do that.

But they do.

Year after year, time after time, they get a couple lin them and the the brain switches off.

Yes, I'm talking to you, you who right now are sober and can't imagine you ever doing that, or being sent to jail while you wait for the prosecutor to decide what kind of penalty the judge should be asked to impose.

When you're "under the influence" you don't think. So make a plan now, while you're sober, while you're thinking about the families that would be forever changed if you were to get behind the wheel when you shouldn't.

Inconvenience yourself by taking a cab. Or a ride from someone else. You'll be glad you did in the morning.
