Local church holding annual ‘Smokefest & Carnival’ event this Saturday

Lighthouse Community Church is continuing with FREE outreach event to community—all welcome

The area around Parker Street and Nelson is going to be busy this Saturday, September 22 as Lighthouse Community Church hosts its annual “Smokefest & Carnival” event for the neighbourhood.

The event runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Among the features that are sure to draw in, shall we say, the “princess crowd,” are characters sure to delight.

The gathering is the church community’s way of kicking off the fall season, say organizers. It’s also an opportunity for teams of rib aficionados to compete for bragging rights involving “best ribs” (and other savoury meats). Beans, salads and hotdogs will also be served.

There will also be a dunk tank, games and various prizes.

The event is FREE and all are welcome.
