Local Express Employment office helps Inn of the Good Shepherd

'Brand It Blue' initiative works with food banks throughout the franchise system

Express Employment Professionals Sarnia recently collected more than 3,117 pounds of food for The Inn of the Good Shepherd as part of the Brand It Blue Initiative, a companywide philanthropic effort.

The Sarnia Express office hosted the event in partnership with Express offices across North America, who came together at local food banks and pantries to help fight hunger–a growing epidemic that impacts millions of people every day. Since the inception of the Brand It Blue Initiative in 2013, Express offices have donated over 600,000 meals to community food banks.

In Sarnia, 14 Express employees and family members volunteered at The Inn of the Good Shepherd on Saturday, June 16, delivering and sorting through over one and a half tons of food, donated by 80 local businesses and individuals.

“At Express, part of our mission is to bring hope through employment, and we accomplish that by really investing in communities,” said Bill Stoller, CEO and chairman of the board for Express Employment Professionals. “Whether it’s helping end chronic hunger, building wheelchair ramps for the disabled, collecting pet food or partnering with numerous other nonprofits, we are proud of the difference our offices make.”

Locally, franchise owner Bruce Hein said the response from the community was overwhelming.

“We would like to thank the 80 local businesses and individuals that generously donated to the Brand It Blue Initiative at a time when The Inn is most in need,” said Hein. “Summer is a difficult time for food banks, with no holiday food drives taking place. And with kids home from school, there isn’t access to school meal programs. The Brand It Blue Initiative would not be possible without the help of our community.”
