Local McDonald’s restaurants donate nearly $25k on McHappy Day

$1 for select items on menu will be donated to the Hub, an initiative of Rebound Sarnia-Lambton

Wednesday’s “McHappy Day” charity event raised $24,273.96 for The Hub, the community collaborative program run by Rebound Sarnia-Lambton, says Colleen Buckley, a co-owner (with her husband Peter, of McDonald’s restaurants in Sarnia and Strathroy.

The money raised included a donation of $1,000 for Ronald McDonald House of Southwestern Ontario from the Lambton Shriners Motor Corp.

McDonald’s employees in the area contributed $2,391 to the total.

A dollar from the sale of every hot drink, Big Mac or Happy Meal sold on Wednesday was donated to the Hub.
