Makrigiannis, Haralambos ‘Harry,’ (Dec. 24, 2017)

Peacefully, surrounded by his loving family at Bluewater Health on Sunday, December 24, 2017, Haralambos “Harry” Makrigiannis passed away at the age of 73. Beloved husband to Eleni (nee Economou) for 48 years. Loving father of Chris (Maria), Penny (Ian) McEachern and Jim (Stephanie). Cherished Papou to Sophia, Mary, Christina, Harrison, Harry, Chris and Yianni. Dear brother to Dimitri (Froshini), Barbara (Chris) Voivondas, Panayioti (late Stephania) and Stavroula (Chris) Barakos and brother-in-law of George and Alexandra Tsaprailis, Steve and Georgia Economou, Nina Koutsoupias, Louie Economou and predeceased by Peter Economou. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his dear parents Chris and Pelagia Makrigiannis and Dimitri and Maria Economou. Harry came to Canada in 1968 with a dream to start a home and work to provide for his family.   He was a good man with a kind heart, friendly, always happy and smiling with a twinkle in his eye. He worked hard and never faltered in his purpose. Harry owned and operated Harry’s Family Restaurant for over 28 years. He will be fondly remembered by all his friends at the restaurant for his warmth and welcoming nature. Harry will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. A special thank you to Dr. David Kim, RN Blaine McLellan and other nurses for their care and attention over the last several months. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Funeral service for Harry Makrigiannis will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 1299 Murphy Rd., Sarnia, on Friday December 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Lakeview Cemetery.
