May First Friday & Exhibition Opening at the JNAAG!

Unveiling of the upcoming exhibition, Influencing Identity: Tourism and the Group of Seven

Join us at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery in downtown Sarnia tonight to welcome our newest exhibition, Influencing Identity – Tourism and the Group of Seven.

Influencing Identity – Tourism and the Group of Seven: Escape urban life and delve into the enthralling wilderness portrayed by the elite Group of Seven and its contemporaries. How did their experiences and representations of Canada define a collective Canadian identity? What about landscape came to represent Canada as a nation and still resides in contemporary society? Along with the alluring posters and brochures produced by the Canadian National Railway and the early Canada Parks Association, viewers will discover the parallel story of marketing the majestic Canadian landscape as a reflection of Canadian values and the definition of a national spirit.

Be sure to mark the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery on your First Friday map. The gallery is open late every First Friday until 9:00PM. Be inspired by local artists, as well as selections from the permanent collection and travelling exhibitions.

Fun and free for the whole family!
