Bluewater Health is inviting the community to attend its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. In addition to the hospital’s end-of-year wrap-up, a nationally-renowned guest speaker will share ideas and trends related to youth and adolescent mental health.
Dr. Joanna Henderson will be the featured AGM speaker, presenting “Meeting the needs of youth with mental health and substance use concerns through integrated models of service delivery.” Dr. Henderson is director of the Margaret and Wallace McCain Centre for Child, Youth & Family Mental Health at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and executive director of Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario. She is also a senior scientist in the Child, Youth, and Emerging Adult Program at CAMH and an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto. Her research aims to improve access to high quality, integrated services for youth with substance use and/or mental health concerns and their families.
“I am delighted to come to Sarnia-Lambton and share ideas on how rethinking traditional healthcare delivery can benefit all populations; this is especially true for our youth, seeking mental health and addiction services,” says Dr. Henderson. “More than 70% of the onset of all mental health and addictions occurs in the adolescent, young adult years. Bold thinking about challenges and opportunities in healthcare delivery is all about better care for people in our communities.”
Bluewater Health’s AGM includes the Auditor’s Report, the election of Directors and Officers to the 2019/2020 Board of Directors, presentation of the final Sue Denomy Leadership Award, and reports by the Board Chair, President & CEO and Chief of Professional Staff. Agendas for Bluewater Health Board of Directors’ meetings are publicly available in advance of meetings, at www.bluewaterhealth.ca under About Bluewater Health/Board of Directors. Bluewater Health’s Annual Report will be publicly available on the organization’s website following the AGM.
The AGM begins at 5 p.m. following the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Directors. The back-to-back meetings will be held in the Event Centre at Lambton College in Sarnia. Free parking and light refreshments are provided.
