Mumford, Joyce Maxine, (Feb. 26, 2014)

mumford obitPeacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia on Wednesday February 26th in her 85th year, after a courageous battle with cancer, with her loving husband of 65 years John at her side. Loving mother of John (Brenda), Dennis, Janis Sheppard (Jim), Karen Millson (Ken) all of London, Kevin (Betty) of Pickering, Brenda McPherson of Edmonton, Stephen (Natalie) of Waterloo, and Mary Vail (Ross) of Sarnia. She’ll also be sadly missed by her 22 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, sisters Charlotte (Bob) Whitcombe, Linda Murray, brother-in-law Wendell Dobson and many nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by parents Stanley (Jack) and Viola Van Conant, sister Roberta Dobson (Wendell) and brothers Don (Sharon) and Jerry Van Conant. Joyce was a long term member and volunteer at the Sarnia Legion, an avid knitter and loved playing bridge, euchre, cribbage and bowling. While we will miss her dearly we are comforted by the fact that she is no longer suffering. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all of the staff at St. Joseph’s Hospice who made her final days as comfortable and peaceful as possible. The compassion and comfort provided by these individuals is beyond words. Cremation has taken place and a funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church, 1011 Oak Ave. on Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations on Joyce’s behalf to St. Joseph’s Hospice in Sarnia would be greatly appreciated – 475 Christina Street North, Sarnia, ON N7T 5W3, 519-337-0537.
