New CEO coming to Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership

George Mallay is retiring at the end of the month

New leadership is coming to the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership.

Stephen Thompson has been hired to replace current CEO George Mallay who is retiring at the end of the month.

Thompson assumes the role late this summer when current obligations are completed. He comes to Sarnia-Lambton from the Government of Ontario where he worked as investment lead in the bio-product sector and spent the last four years on diplomatic assignment as Ontario’s Senior Representative in the Western United States.  

Thompson has held the leadership positions at the City of Port Colborne and the Niagara Economic and Tourism Corporation. 

He has received numerous awards over his career, including regional and international ‘Top 40 under Forty’ awards, a leadership award from the International Economic Development Council in 2011, and the University of Waterloo’s alumni achievement award in 2016.
