It’s a tradition that is turning heads in Petrolia,

The annual Scarecrow Festival, which follows last weekend’s Petrolia and Enniskillen Fall Fair, features dozens of straw-filled “creatures” that went up Sept. 3.

The event, now in its eighth year, is taking on a life of its own as visitors flock to the area to take a look, or get a picture with one or more of the scarecrows.

There is also a family scarecrow competition underway. Judging for the contest will take place the first week of October and scarecrows need to be up by Sept. 28.
