As a grand finale to end this season’s “Friday Afternoon” Concert Series, the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts is proud to present the Hackstock-Reynolds Piano Duo. The concert, employing the Library’s magnificent Steinway D piano, will be held this Friday, April 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sarnia Library Theatre.
Praised for their “lyrical sensitivity and vibrant colours”, the Hackstock-Reynolds Piano Duo has inspired audiences for over ten years. Mary and Laura began performing while both were music students at Wayne State University. Both pianists attended the University of South Florida, where they studied with renowned pianist Svetozar Ivanov, and graduated with Masters of Music. During their years of study, they were engaged in a great number of solo and chamber recitals.
The duo is known for their lively stage performances and dynamic understanding of the repertoire. The duo chooses pieces that reflect the depth of the piano duo catalogue from Franz Schubert’s Fantasia in F Minor, Op. 103 to the Gazebo Dances by John Corigliano, one of today’s finest and well-known composers.
The “Friday Afternoon” Concert Series is held one Friday each month from September through April. Admission is $15.00. Following the concert, light refreshments will be served, free of charge, and patrons will have the opportunity to meet the performing artists.
Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Lawrence House, or at the door at the Sarnia Library Theatre. For more information, please call the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts at 519-337-0507.
