Police check 1,000 vehicles in coordinated RIDE checkpoint

A Dec. 12 (Wednesday) RIDE program coordinated between Lambton OPP and several other agencies and involving volunteers with Mothers Against Driving saw some 1,000 vehicles checked.

The checkpoint was located on Highway 40 between Confederation Line and Plank Road.

Police say one man, a 54-year-old Sarnia resident, is said to have refused a breath sample after officers had reason to believe he had been drinking.

The accused will appear in a Sarnia court on Dec. 31 to answer to the charge of impaired driving as well as the refusal to give a breath sample.
