ritchie obitSurrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at Lambton Meadowview Villa, Petrolia, Carl Milton Ritchie of Petrolia died at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Geraldine Ritchie (nee Wagner). Much loved father of Robin (Helen) Ritchie, Shelley (Jim) Boyce and the late Scott Ritchie (2001) and father-in-law of Joyce. He will be dearly missed by his granddaughter Kristal Owen (Joe) and their children Rhys, Joey, and Layla. Survived by his sister Olive Schuyler, his nieces Jody and Cathy, and his nephew Jeff. Predeceased by his parents Ethel and Roy Ritchie. Carl worked on various farms, as a young man, around the Wheatley area, after which he went to the Guelph Agricultural College where he trained in the dairy industry. After a serious back injury, Carl worked as a barber for 10 years before he eventually became chief custodian for Lambton County Board of Education. Carl had a deep love of music. He played violin with various local groups including the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, the Wheatley Concert Band, but he especially loved to play and dance around the living room with his children and his granddaughter. In his earlier years, Carl and his family were involved with St. Paul’s United Church. Carl’s family would like to thank the staff at Lambton Meadowview Villa, especially the PSW’s, as they became a second family to them and routinely went above and beyond the call of duty. The family also appreciated the special prayer ceremony in Carl’s memory. Carl was a member of the Petrolia-Washington Lodge, No 194. Arrangements entrusted to the NEEDHAM-JAY FUNERAL HOME (519) 882-0100. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. Memorial donations may be made by cheque to the C.E.E Hospital Foundation (Continuing Care). Memories, pictures and condolences may be shared online at www.needhamjay.com
