Rotarians honour Humboldt hockey community at brief ceremony

Club members use Point Edward flag plaza as backdrop for Friday morning's 'Humboldt Strong' statement of support

Hockey communities across Canada have come together to remember those who perished in last weekend’s traffic tragedy involving players from Humboldt, Sask.

Members of the Sarnia-Lambton community were among those who stepped out to remember young lives cut short.

In the spirit of numerous groups showing their support through the wearing of sweaters or other pieces of green clothing (the colour of the Humboldt Bronco team), members of the Rotary Club of Sarnia Bluewaterland decided to hold a brief ceremony on Friday morning at the base of the flag plaza in Point Edward.

About a dozen members, many of them from various clubs across the area, stood in silence as Marie Watson, District Governor for Area 5 (which includes clubs in Glencoe, Petrolia, Sarnia, Strathroy, and Watford) read the names of those killed.
