flags bluewaterlandThe Rotary Club of Sarnia-Bluewaterland is hosting its annual "Rotary Giant Book Sale" starting next Friday (Jan. 11) and running through the weekend.

The three-day event will be held at the Bayside Centre's George Street entrance.

There are three hours of free underground parking at Bayside.

The sale's hours are: Friday, Jan. 11, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, Jan. 13, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday is "Bag Day" when patrons can bring their own standard-size reusable shopping bag and fill it for $5.

Prices for Friday and Saturday are $2 for hardcover books and $1 for paperbacks.

Jean Cowper, the Rotary club's book committee chair, said she is pleased with the donations the club has collected.

"We estimate we have over 20,000 books, the largest number and the greatest selection we’ve ever had."

The club is holding a book raffle throughout the Book Sale event, with the 12 prizes being drawn on Bag Day Sunday.  This year’s featured book is “Margaret Thatcher, the Downing Street Years” – signed by the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Proceeds of the Book Sale and Book Raffle go to Rotary projects including the International Flag Plaza under the Blue Water bridges.
