Sarnia artists ‘returning home’ for concert

Preetam Sengupta and 'Beatchild' will be featured at Sarnia Library Theatre on Dec. 9

On Saturday, December 9, the Sarnia Library Theatre will play host to the third annual “It’s Great to Be Home” concert. This year’s show will feature Preetam Sengupta and Beatchild (formerly Slakah the Beatchild) – both from Sarnia.

The past two years have seen Sengupta joined on stage by Andrew Austin and Emm Gryner. “I’ll miss Andrew and Emm, but I’m really excited to come back to the library again this year, and share the stage with another incredible Sarnia artist,” said Sengupta. “People already know Beatchild as a great producer, but I’m glad they’re starting to realize what a great songwriter he is as well.”

Sengupta recently released his new album called Patience (produced by Beatchild) which has already garnered national attention. CBC Here and Now chose “Long Way Down” as Song of the Week in early October. “Dream a Little” won a Folk Music Ontario Award earlier this fall. Sengupta will be on a month-long tour of Eastern Canada before the show in Sarnia.

Tickets for the December 9 show are available for purchase at Personal Touch Eatery & Catering (144 Mitton St. S., cash sales preferred), Cheeky Monkey (130 Christina St. N.) or online at Tickets are $20 per person. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m.
