Sarnia courthouse lobby gets new restaurant

Couple signs lease as vacant space gets new host

Dean Frayne and Court Cafe & Catering proprietor Laurie Frayne say they're "delighted" at the response to their recent opening at the Sarnia courthouse.

A casual visit to the Sarnia courthouse, the provincially owned facility just north of Highway 402 off Christina St., has resulted in a couple starting a new business.

And regulars to the building couldn’t be happier.

The business is Court Cafe & Catering and proprietor Laurie Frayne and her husband Dean Frayne say they’re “very pleased” after being open about a month.

They held a “grand opening” on Tuesday.

While visitors must go through security before getting access to the new restaurant, that hasn’t dissuaded regulars—typically those who are visiting or working within the legal system—from stopping by for a hot drink or a meal.

Business is booming and the Fraynes say they’re already getting referrals for the catering side of the venture.

“It’s been amazing, really,” says Laurie. “We couldn’t be happier.”
