Sarnia Police say they have arrested a 24-year-old Sarnia man who now faces some 79 charges of fraud over $5,000, the alleged crimes dating back to November 2011 and involving an 82-year-old Sarnia woman investigators say had maintenance work done at the woman's north-end home.
Jeff Henry Rodey was arrested by police Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. and is appearing in court today (Wednesday) for bail hearing purposes.
Rodey is accused of stealing the woman's chequebook and subsequently defrauding her in an amount over $22,000. Police say a commercial establishment also lost more than $8,000 as a result of cheques investigators say were returned by the financial institution.
