Sarnia Police have suspect in attempt to smash window of parked truck

An 18-year-old Sarnia man, who was under court orders not to be in possession of alcohol as well as being on a curfew, was picked up Monday night around 9:20 after allegedly attempting to smash the window of a truck parked in a driveway in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue in Sarnia.

Sarnia Police say the suspect, now awaiting a bail hearing, was chased by a homeowner who heard the noise and went outside to investigate.

The homeowner pursued the suspect while his wife called police, who found the accused near Strathmore and Grandview Avenues, smelling of alcohol.

He was also missing a shoe.

When the homeowner took police on a retracing of his pursuit, a shoe apparently matching the one being worn by the suspect as well as a black toque and a skateboard were discovered.

The 18-year-old faces charges of mischief over $5,000, prowl by night, two counts of breach of recognizance and breach of probation as well as a provincial offence notice for liquor infractions.
