Sarnia Police pick up two impaired drivers over weekend

Sarnia Police say two drivers were arrested and charged with impaired driving in two separate incidents on the weekend.

In the first incident, which occurred Saturday (Oct. 27) just after midnight, officers responded to a 911 call, with indications that a man might be armed with a handgun.

While that turned out not to be the case, officers did locate a vehicle and determined that the driver had nearly twice the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream as well as having a suspended license.

On Sunday (Oct. 29), again just after midnight, Sarnia Police stopped a vehicle that was speeding on East St. near Bright St. The vehicle had no taillights.

The driver was allegedly driving drunk, with a test indicating two and a half times the legal limit. Officers also discovered 27.25 grams of what they believe to be marijuana.

The 21-year-old driver faces Impaired Operation, Possession of a Controlled Substance and two traffic offences.
