Sarnia Police took part in province-wide sweep of child porn suspects

Sarnia Police say its officers participated in yesterday’s (Wednesday, September 24) province-wide sweep of alleged child pornography sites, working specifically with Chatham-Kent officers in a search warrant and subsequent arrest of a 31-year-old Wallaceburg.

That man was charged with one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of making it available.

The province-wide campaign was conducted by the Provincial Strategy to Protect Children from Sexual Abuse and Exploitation on the Internet. As part of that effort, police from different services work together to share information during these investigations.

Officers from across the province executed 99 search warrants and as a result charged 60 people with almost 250 charges. Investigators were also able to identify 14 child victims during the sweep.
