Sarnia Sting fall to Soo Greyhounds

8-1 loss comes on Sunday at the Essar Centre

The Sarnia Sting fell to the Soo Greyhounds by a score of 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the Essar Centre. The loss drops the Sting record to 17-13-4-0 on the season as they head into the holiday break.

Justin Fazio stopped 20 of 27 shots faced before being replaced in favour of Aidan Hughes, who stopped 17 of 18 shots he faced. Joseph Raaymakers stopped 29 of 30 shots faced for the Greyhounds.

Colton White opened the scoring at 15:04 in the first period while shorthanded, and the score would remain 1-0 heading into the 2nd period.

Boris Katchouk scored his 15th goal of the year just 54 seconds into the 2nd period, the first of 6 in the period for the Greyhounds. Jack Kopacka would make it 3-0 at 2:27 before Katchouk scored his 2nd of the period at 5:10.

The Sting responded 12 seconds later, as Jordan Kyrou scored his 13th of the year on the power-play. Brady Hinz had the lone assist.

The Greyhounds ran away with the game at the 14:43 mark, where Liam Hawel would score the first of 3 goals in less than a minute to make it a 7-1 game. Bobby MacIntyre and Tim Gettinger would score the other two, respectively. Zachary Senyshyn made it an 8-1 game at 13:10 in the 3rd period with his 17th of the season.
