St. Joseph’s Hospice is very excited to be celebrating its 10th Anniversary of Residential Care in Sarnia Lambton.
In December 2005, St. Joseph’s Hospice Resource Centre opened located at 110 Water Street, Sarnia and in September 2006, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care designated funding of medical services for a residential Hospice in Sarnia- Lambton provided that a group from the community would undertake to build it.
St. Joseph`s accepted that responsibility and in November 2009 opened a 10-bed Residence and Resource Centre at 475 Christina Street North in Sarnia. This beautiful new residence is combined with a historic and stately manor which houses the Resource Centre both providing a comfortable home-like environment.
As St. Joseph’s Hospice reaches its milestone the organization is looking forward to commemorating the impact of our work and thanking everyone who has contributed to this success.
To celebrate, its Anniversary Committee organized a range of special events, speaker series, open house tour, special events, ribbon cutting ceremony and community projects, all of which are intended to highlight its programs and services, and our residence and to capture the attention of the public.
The milestone year also offers an opportunity for us to engage with the local community to educate people about Hospice Palliative Care.
During May and June, St. Joseph’s Hospice will be holding its “Face to Face” campaign, in which 100 volunteers are asked to approach 10 friends for $10, the intention being to raise $10,000 in support of the programs.
At the same time, 1,000 people will learn about St. Joseph’s Hospice!
