Suspect arrested running from stolen vehicle

Lambton OPP said a Sarnia man was arrested Tuesday afternoon for his alleged involvement with a stolen vehicle.

Police said that at around 1 p.m. on Jun. 19, an officer patrolling in the area of Bentpath Line and Tramway Road tried to stop a 2005 Dodge pick-up for a stop sign offence.

The vehicle proceeded into a private driveway and the lone male occupant fled on foot. The pick-up was found to have been stolen less than ½ hour earlier in Chatham-Kent.

More police units were sent in to contain surrounding the area and the OPP Canine Unit was called to assist in a search for the suspect.

He was found approximately one hour later hiding in a culvert nearby.

Patrick White, 38, from Sarnia faces charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Theft Over $5,000 dollars, Driving under Suspension and a traffic offence relating to the stop sign.

The suspect was in court yesterday morning.
