Theatre Sarnia’s Junior Youth Group presents: The Quest for Quasi

This one act play will evoke laughs from adults and children alike

After months of Saturday morning practices, set design, and costume fittings the Theatre Sarnia Junior Youth Group will present “The Quest for Quasi” Thursday, January 18th at 7 p.m. at Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre.

The play follows the trials and tribulations of Little Red Riding Hood who gets more than she bargains for after arranging a date with Quasimodo, the Hunchback of Notre Dame, on The Dating Game hosted by Puss in Boots. The Wicked Witch of the West interrupts their McDonald’s dinner and demands Little Red Riding Hood bring her three fairy tale objects to return peace and order to the fantasy land.

While the play is guaranteed to entertain children, Ruth Francoeur with Theatre Sarnia said adults will enjoy the show as well.

“It’s very Monty Python-esque,” said Francoeur, adding that the show includes a reference to the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

“A couple parents watched a practice and they were laughing a lot,” she said.

The junior youth group is composed of youngsters ages 10 to 12 under the direction of leaders from the senior youth group and adults such as Francoeur.

“They’re just so stinkin’ cute,” Francoeur said about the young thespians.

Theatre Sarnia has three youth groups. Junior for ages 10 to 12, intermediate for ages 13 and 14, and senior youth group for ages 15 to 18.

The program teaches the fundamentals of theatre arts and offers workshops with theatre professionals.

Tickets for The Quest for Quasi cost $10 and can be purchased at the door, online, or by calling at the Imperial Theatre Box Office.
